'Target Loot' hotkey is back
Do you know that the 'target closest item' hotkey has been re-activated? Old beta players may remember it had been removed to make bot scripts more complex to write. Beta feedback proved that designing a solo-farming macro/bot was much harder when you had to perform a pixel by pixel analysis of the screen (instead of using this handy hotkey).
The 'Target Loot' hotkey is now available again to make your life easier. How does it work? You can configure your controls and you can add a hotkey to target the closest item on the ground (even if the item is not reserved for you). Then you can click on 'Do It' (space) to grab it.
Although it seems to be a stealthy update, ANet is aware of the situation and it's been re-activated deliberately (it's neither a bug nor an exploit). In short, it's not a good deterrent against bots, but it's a user-friendly bonus for players.

I'm not sure if I am reading that correctly. Are you saying that you can target and grab an item that is not reserved for you (i.e. one that is reserved for another member of your team)?

My understanding is it will target the closest, even if it's not assigned to you, but won't let you pick it up.

I am sure you'll get a message saying "this item is reserved for another member in your team", or something like that, just like current

Xonic's right. It acts the same as if you had clicked on the item normally.
Default hotkey is the semicolon ( ; ), afaik.

I noticed this about a week ago when configuring some different keys, I just figured I never realized it was there.

I've noticed this before too, and I think it's a several second delay from when the name disappears on a piece of loot to when you can actually pick it up because it's unassigned.

Interesting. I can see where this could be very useful.
Is there a way to cycle through the items on the ground, like tab does with enemies?
